- New Years Possibilities:
From The L.A. Times
GONE PHISHING: Choices for New Year's Eve 2000 have just
increased in Southern California and decreased, at least for the moment,
in New York.
Phish is laying plans to show up in SoCal for a series of concerts over
the weekend that starts Dec. 31. The Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion is
a likely site, as it has campgrounds for the Vermont band's fans, many of
whom follow the group around the country.
Phish.Net had reported multiple shows for the band members, but that was simply an April Fools joke.
Hawaii
Southern California - Edison Internation Field (Formerly Anaheim Stadium). Apparently Disney (who owns the place) gave them the go ahead. Nice Weather, 45,050 capacity, 1st West Coast New Years...best bet so far
Mexico
Florida
My House (not enough port-o-lets)
- Tom Marshall and Trey have formed a band called Utalk. They play songs they
wrote that Phish doesn't play, as well as several covers. The other band
members are friends of theirs from high school in Princeton, New Jersey. Look
for them to debut at the Higher Ground in Winooski Vermont sometime around
December 1998. The 24-hour jam at a friend's house wasn't Phish, it was
Utalk. Covers included Comfortably Numb, some Genesis, lots of Beatles, Janis
Joplin stuff and Velvet Underground. There are tapes, but they are digitally
signed so that if they are copied, the signature will give away the identity
of the person who leaked the tape. Don't plan on listening to this show
anytime soon -- although a quote from Trey on the tape is "I wish Phish could
sound like this again -- this was the best night of music in my life!"
- Reserved 10 night run at the Radio City Music Hall in 1999
- Phish is going to market there own microbrewed beer.
It will come in a SIX pack of cans. (Trey, Mike, Page, Fish, Paul Langedoc and Chris Koroda!
It will be called PhishBeer.
There will be a picture of each band member on each can.
It will be stout.
Look for it in beer stores on the east coast within the next six months.
- Phish's next live album may be the 11/17/97 Denver show.
- Phish might release the 4th set from the Lemonwheel as their new album
- As you may know, we have not been welcome at Great Woods in Mansfield,
MA, since 1995. Great Woods is currently under new ownership, and this
may be what sets a return by Phish in motion for the 1999 summer tour,
for possibly 4 nights or more.
- Phish will produce a variety of live albums in the new few years to coincide with the new studio albums - from a Phish Merchandising Publication
- Phish to produce a movie entitled "Phish - The Movie". They recorded Rochester, The Great Went, some of
New Years at MSG, and will be recording upcoming shows in Florida and Europe. No word on a release date.
- Phish to play NYC's Central Park on July 4, 2001. The 225 birthday of the United States
- Don't look for Phish playing the Fleet center anytime soon. Apparently they find the seating and light very distracting and the Fleet people are not very accomodating.
Random Ramblins
(Not a Rumor, Not Confirmed)
New Martin Guigui film to be filmed at basin harbor club, on Lake Champlain in
Vermont will feature Fishman. Possibly called "The Wedding Band". Movie is about Jewish/Catholic wedding. Fishman
is the drummer in the band. Band does not know how to play Hava Nagileh, so
Fish does ten minute drum solo to be featured in film.
5/16: Movie wraps up next week, after a three week shoot in the Burlington
area, and Fishman DID in fact shoot a scene in which he plays a song on the
drums with a friend of the band leader, Hebber Stebber (played by Burlington
musician Chad Hollister), and he wears a pink dress.
Other musicians in the movie include Martin Guigui band as the "Hebber Stebber
Orchestra", including members of Spastic and the Dude of Life's touring band.
Barry Goudreau, late of Boston second guitarist fame, plays guitar in the band,
and Debbie Gibson is the female lead! Dom DeLuise is also in the cast.
IMDB Listings
Mike Gordon and Col. Bruce Hampton made a full feature film called
Outstructional about a Bass Intructor
10/16:You can confirm the film with Col. Bruce and Mike-I thought it was
called the Unstructional Video though-I was at Archer studios with Fish on
5/8/97- Mike and Bruce came in and were talking about the days shoot-and how
they had gone to a discount store and bought 7 matching $5. flannel
shirts-(the Col. was wearing two of them)-it was for a scene in the Movie
where Mike is apparently shot and they needed all the flannels for retakes
(Blood pellets were used)
Mike Gordon is playing a Down and out, washed up Rock star in John
O'Briens (MAn with a PLan, Vermont is for Lovers) new movie, being
filmed now. He's on the cover of the White River Herald, with a big
article about the film being filmed in Tunbridge.
Production is underway for PHISH: The Movie, directed by Todd Phillips, a twenty
-seven-year-old film directory who recently won a Best Documentary prize at the
Sundance Film Festivcal for Frat House, a look at life in a college fraternity.
Phillips describes the Phish film, which contains concert and behind-the-scenes
footage as "Messy and Raw...It isn't an MTV rockumentary." The band initially hi
red Phillips to film its two-day Great Went concert last summer, but Phillips de
cided to keep filming. Phish's Trey's Anastasio says, "Todd's been shooting off
and on for the past year. I haven't seen any footage, but he swears it's good."
The film will likely be released theatrically next spring.
7/20/98
the film is complete, and additional footage of Lemonwheel may
be included. The film was sold to HBO of all places, and now they are in
control of everything..unless someone else buys the film for a higher
price. Currently, there is some sort of Court settlement going on, and
apparently Phillips is REALLY pissed off at HBO. Anyways, plans for a
release date are now up in the air, as it depends on who wants to buy
and release it.
Things Past
- A documentry called Condo or Condor Painting about Allen Ginsberg and
William H. Burroughs will feature music from The Residents, Morphine and
Phish!!!!! Look on The Residents homepage for more details.
- Jon Fishman and Pam Tengiris were married on Sunday, September 28th in Las Vegas
- Mike Gordon was married on June 20th - Mazel Tov!
- Apparently Phish recently performed a (record setting) 24 hour jam at a friends home in Vermont.
No tapes will be circulated for now.
Fishman was quoted as saying, "We reached a level of musical Zen that we have never achieved before!".
Phish's Asst. Production Manager can confirm this event occured.
- On 12/2/97 in Philly Phish was presented with Gold albums from Electra, for 'Slip
Stitch & Pass'. It was a pretty big deal and extended family members were present,
including Trey's father & grandfather. Which could explain some YaMar lyrics.
-Johnny D. (a.k.a. Shaggy)
- At the MSG shows, the curfew is 11:30 PM with a 5 minute grace period.
When they had gone over this time on 12/30, they realized that they had
already incurred an $11,000 extra charge for the next hour, hence the
reason they played until 12:20 or so.
- They relearned Sneaking Sally before the show that night, and Page
learned New York New York between sets on 12/31.
- During the 30th setbreak, they heard a bunch of people missed the opener, which is why they decided to play Sneaking Sally again during the encore
- The show started at 8:15 (tickets said 8) so those that missed the opening had themselves to blame. BUT, a member of the crew went out during the show and got the original Sneaking Sally recording for the band to listen to between sets, so that may have been the reason they went back into it. Or it just sounded good coming out of Black Eyed Katy.
- Mike & Fish joined the Flecktones - 2/14 at the Flynn - (this was rumored, and happened)

Rumor Validity
I've been getting a bunch of questions lately about the validity of the above
rumors and where they came from. All rumors and found through personal e-mail
sent to me which I determine if they are in any way possible, or my random
searchings through rec.music.phish.
Take these rumors for what they are, RUMORS. DO NOT make travel arrangements
based on them. I am in no way responsible if these rumors do not pan out. I am
merely attempting to provide an outlet in which tour seeking fans can obtain a
glimmer of home in our otherwise exciting lives.
Phish is good, this we know.

How To Submit A Rumor:
So, you're best friend just called you because his brother knows this guy who works for someone who talked to his friend who went to Dental school with the guy that Trey's High School English teacher once had coffee with, and says there's this crazy things happening in the Phish world and everyone should know about it...
Well, take a deep breathe and simply ask yourself a few questions:
- Is is already listed on this page?
- Does my information add anything to the info already known?
- Is there any validity whatsoever to this claim?
- Does it not invade the private lives of anyone involved in the band?
If you feel confident that your rumor deserves posting after thinking of these things, then Send me an E-mail and I'll most likely post it here.
I usually don't hold back anything that I feel has even a glimmer of a chance occurring, so you know everything I know.
Please don't e-mail me asking about the rumors!
