Limb By Limb

I think the key to this song is not to think overmuch on the lyrics, although I appreciate the creativity of the communism approach. To me, limb by limb is about the band jamming out, throwing themselves over the edge and going out into their own directions "limb-by-limb" without letting the bottom fall out, and coming back together to make something cohesive out of the experience. Thats the 'feel' I have always gotten from that song at shows. I won't even try to go lyric for lyric with it, the rest of you guys are far too good .
I agree (to some extent) about the communism content. THink about the problems contained in a communist society: Never want my hand cut off; tactics to scare dissenters away from defecting, etc. Never want a hacking cough; poor medical treatment and facilities for the common people in a communist society Never turn my brain to mush; the ability of the communist machine to kill all independant thought processes, or the ability think rationally, or on ones' own LEft is where I always turn, communists are said to be left wing radicals (or is it right wing) either way it works Always take the best parts back, the actions of a communist government promising something and never providing it or pulling the plug after a short and often times unsuccessful try. I could go on but I forget many of the words (an early 420). Anyways enjoy and please feel frre to criticize me --stoney (aka nathan bennett)
I feel that Limb by Limb is about communism in China. i know this is wierd but what the hell. I am not listening to it right now but from memory. They do talk about the chinese wall. they also talk about land reform, a key ingredient in chinese communism. "limb by limb" reminds me of piece by piece, everyone coming together to make a whole, the essence of communism. i am not a commie but am very well versed in political science and listening to this song made me feel this way. Thanks, craig
