1995 - the year we made contact
Without question, 1995 was the most musically impactful and inspired year I've ever experienced.
From my first Phish show at Deer Creek (yes, I'm a custie noob) to the last Dead shows at Soldier Field, Jerry passing, flying to California for the Shoreline show, driving to South Carolina & North Carolina on a whim for those November shows (i'm so tired) and then going out east in December, twice, once for Lake Placid and then the end of the year New Years run...it was quite a year.
Maybe that's why I've been so pleased with the latest installment of the Live Phish download series, coming from the month of December in the mid-decade extravaganza.
There's just something so fresh, revealing, exciting, new, progressive, crisp, limitless about the playing at that time. The band really took things to the next level as they went from playing theaters to sheds and turned on more fans than ever before. Great Mike's Groove too...
